Because of the many complexities and variables
associated with rod boot covers you must receive assistance from
our engineering staff if you want this optional feature. Please
call us toll free at (800) 526-7968 in the USA and Canada or at
(586) 775-7211. Our engineers will configure this cylinder for you
when rod boot covers are required.
Rod boot covers are an effective way of keeping contamination off
of the piston rod of an air or hydraulic cylinder. This
accordion like boot is an engineered component to the cylinder as
it is made to a special length because it is a stroke sensitive
item. The cylinder will also require an extended piston rod
because additional piston rod length is necessary to compensate
for the convoluted folds in the boot material when the cylinder is
in its stroke retracted position (see below illustration). The
extended piston rod will be designated with a /E in the cylinder
part number after the cylinder is generated for configuration.
Other engineering considerations arise because different
thicknesses of boot material may become necessary to meet the
demands of various applications; thicker material will often
require longer piston rod extensions. When ordering this feature
you must call our engineering department (at 800-526-7968 in the
USA and Canada or at 586-775-7211) for assistance to help you
determine the additional piston rod extension required for the
boot cover material. Make sure that you are highly knowledgeable
of the cylinder application so that you can correctly answer any
questions that our engineers may have for you. Special materials
are also available for high heat, flame retardant, weld splatter
and a variety of other conditions. In addition to rod boot covers,
scraper rings are another effective means of preventing
contamination from entering the cylinder upon the retracted stroke
of the cylinder (see scraper ring helpful hint).
After our engineers have configured your cylinder with the rod
boot cover, a /H will also appear at the end of the Peninsular
part numbering system. By selecting the Rod Boot Cover in this
configurator you will have selected a cylinder with a rod boot
cover correctly engineered and affixed to the cylinder and you
will see the rod boot in the configured cylinder picture that will
be generated when this feature is checked as a selected option.
Our engineers will email your configured cylinder to you at this
time.
